About the Intensive
This 4-week intensive will work with young actors on how to get the most out of their audition in a short time frame. They will also get an inside looking from a casting perspective on what makes a self-tape pop to industry professionals and work with instructors / special guests to discuss their top pilot season tips!
What is pilot season?
Pilots are the first episode of any television show. “Pilot season” has been known to be the busiest time for actors in the industry, lasting from January through May. Due to the addition of many new streaming platforms, pilot season is now throughout the year and not only limited to that time frame. Pilots for the upcoming season are ordered, made, and then either “picked up,” i.e. made into a series, or scrapped. That means A LOT of work needs to get done in a relatively short period of time, including the casting process. Actors need to memorize, work on their characters, self-tape/audition with a very quick turnaround, often juggling multiple auditions at once.
*Typically pilot season is in the start of each year, however, 2021 is likely to delay pilot season due to filming delays. This means that auditions will happen throughout the year, and you will need to be prepared for when they pop up!
